Microsoft bids on Yahoo!

Hopefully by now everybody has heard the news, and I’m not about to republish it here, this post is to help Microsoft-Yahoo! to come up with a new logo. So far, I haven’t seen much activity on this yet. Here are a few I found. The text links go to the publishing page, click on thumbnails for full size images.

Piss on Vista

Can anyone relate?

I have finally become totally frustrated with Microsoft’s new operating system, Vista, and am about to UPGRADE to Windows XP Professional.

So, why am I upset with Vista?

1) Today I needed to make an animated gif file for a client and my Adobe Illustrator wouldn’t load the required files. So i say, OK; I can find a program on the internet that I can use. WRONG!! After downloading several freeware and shareware programs, I could not get any of them to work. They were NOT COMPATIBLE!

2) I also purchased a student copy of Microsoft® Office Ultimate 2007 from theultimatesteal.com. What a buy - only $59.95!! Oh gee, guess what? The program wouldn’t install. Heck, it wouldn’t even open! I went to Microsoft Help, got a half-way fluent technician to resolve this problem, and that failed also.

3) Over 1/4 of a million websites agree: Personalized Results 1 - 20 of about 278,000 for VISTA SUCKS.

4) See these YouTube videos:
VISTA SUCKS,
When will Vista Die?
Video with lyrics changed, “Start Me Up”

Can you relate?

Acid2 from WikipediaThe first browser to support the Acid2 test was Safari 2.0.2, back in November 2005.

Since then, iCab and Konqueror have announced their own support. The current beta of Firefox 3 comes close, but isn’t there just yet. With this announcement, it looks like Internet Explorer may actually beat it to the punch!

Microsoft fails WC3 vaildation

In alliance with web compliance standards, Microsoft has violated the official W3C standards - who would have thought? It came to my attention when browsing through daily posts at Digg.com, when I came upon “Is Microsoft learning from Web standards mistakes?” by Munir Kotadia, ZDNet Australia Thursday, July 19 2007 04:49 PM.

After reading the article, I became curious as to how compliant Microsoft’s websites actually are. Doing a W3C web standards check of http://www.microsoft.com, the website failed violation with a mere 28 errors. Then I went to “Get it now - Internet Explorer 7 downloads.” This site, not only does not include a “DOCTYPE Declaration,” it failed with 136 validation errors !!!!

So what’s this all about? - - “Do as I say, not as I do” - - appears to be the message from “The King.” So, where are we to go from here? Where are we to go for clean, uncompromising service?

… this is definitely a sour apple for all us professionals trying to obtain clean markup standards!!

SHAME ON YOU, MICROSOFT!

Even so, I have dignity - I have pride - I will do my best to comply with The World Wide Web Consortium, yet I realize that some of the ads I place on my site do not comply, at least my own mark-up is highly superlative to most of the Microsoft websites (I see MSN passed).

There still remains something all of us can do - use the better browser -

These CSS bugs are all found only in Internet Explorer, versions 5 and higher. To see the demos properly, they must be viewed in IE, of course.
